Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) official in charge of UFO/ET information mocks public data requests: documentaries of credible evidence prove NASA as honest as political ‘leaders’

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) website has no informative results searching “UFO” and “ET;” I sent them a request for information but they advise not to expect an answer. NASA discusses one photographic image to disprove it with no other information I could find. NASA’s search section references their publication, What about UFOs?, but I could only find a 2013 article criticizing NASA’s lack of scientific integrity in their paper explaining NASA’s official position:

“No branch of the United States Government is currently involved with or responsible for investigations into the possibility of alien life on other planets or for investigating Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO’s). The U.S. Air Force (USAF) and NASA have had intermittent, independent investigations of the possibility of alien life on other planets; however, none of these has produced factual evidence that life exists on other planets, nor that UFO’s are related to aliens.” 

Perhaps their story is changing. 

About ten years ago I had a chance encounter at Georgee’s Pizza with the JPL person in charge of public requests for information about UFO/ET evidence. 

We were both waiting to pick-up our pizzas. The conversation; true in spirit and close as I can recall for content:

JPL 1: So this guy continues on the phone (mocking tone), “Are you sure you have no evidence? You’ve never seen anything?” and I’m like, “We’re quite sure. If we had anything, we’d let everyone know.”

JPL 2: Don’t you get tired of the same questions?

JPL 1: No, it’s fun. I mean, most of them don’t have any challenging information. They’re just asking. Some of them want to argue about evidence they’ve seen, but I just answer that all the evidence we’ve seen is junk.

JPL 2: And they keep calling (in amusement).

JPL 1: Yeah, they keep calling (dismissive arrogance).

Carl (just in front of these two, after just letting them talk, and turning in total sweetness): Pardon me for overhearing your discussion. I’m Carl Herman (shaking hands with both); I grew-up in La Canada, and have friends who work at JPL. (to JPL 1) You’re the person in charge of public UFO requests?

JPL 1 (a little nervous): Yes.

Carl: And your official position is JPL and NASA have never received any credible evidence of ET and UFO existence?

JPL 1: (calming at my sweetness) Yes.

Carl: I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at this area, but I’ve seen enough to ask about a few areas of evidence. You know who Dr. Edgar Mitchell is, right?

JPL 1: Of course.

Carl: You’re telling people that his testimony of UFO/ET reality isn’t credible? 

JPL 1 (stone-faced): I don’t know what Dr. Mitchell is telling people.

Carl (sensing a lie, and starting to raise my voice): What? You have a guy who went to the moon and has a Ph.D. from MIT doing radio shows and public conferences, and you don’t know what he’s saying?

JPL 1 avoiding eye contact, and I think would have walked away if he wasn’t waiting for his pizza, nervously noticing other patrons now paying attention to this conversation.

Carl (intently giving him five seconds of silence): I don’t believe you, Mr. (reading his last name from his lanyard ID: I don’t remember his name).

JPL 1 (looking down, visibly uncomfortable, then looking up speaking quietly in apparent hope to no longer be overheard): We’ve never heard of anything Dr. Mitchell says. He’s certainly welcome to his opinion.

Carl: How about this evidence going back thousands of years: ancient Roman and Chinese official historians recorded UFO sitings. Do you know about those?

JPL 1: No.

Carl: How about the Disclosure Project holding a press conference in 2001 with now hundreds of witnesses in US military and government? You haven’t heard about that either?

JPL 1: No. 

Carl: Then just what evidence have you examined!?

JPL 1: All the evidence presented to NASA has been determined to be not credible.

Carl: What evidence is that?

Georgee employee (also nervous, as I made sure the ~20 people waiting around the open door easily heard us): Pizza for Carl.

Carl: (to JPL 1) Well this was fun, Mr. (whatever his name was). Tell you what: you just told all these fine people that NASA and you were unaware of Dr. Mitchell’s testimony that UFOs and ETs are real. You’re going back to your office in a few minutes, but you’re not going to look-up anything, and you’re not going to change your story. Keep making fun of people asking questions. Keep lying. And keep calling what you do “public service.” Enjoy your pizza.

I take my pizza, and walk past the two JPL colleagues giving each a firm look in the eyes.
