    The info on John McCain was very interesting but one thing was incorrect. According to a fellow sailor on the USS Oriskany, John McCain was not shot down, he ran out of fuel. That's why he didn't burn up.

    When young John escaped the USS Forrestal, he transferred to the Oriskany. The sailors knew the truth about McCain. A mechanic had a defective fuel gauge that always registered full. He installed it into John's plane. On JM's next mission over NVN his fuel tank was empty. His only fuel was in an auxiliary external tank which was jettisoned as he approached enemy air space. He was out of fuel.
